 Itinerary

July 14th - Travel to Aveiro (the Venice of Portugal) - Enjoy train station, Uber to the Costa Nova to see the striped fishing houses.  Head to the beach to walk along the boardwalk.  Walk to Barra Beach, grab another Uber to the salt flats.  Walk to the center of Aveiro.  Take a stroll through Old Town, getting lost in the maze like alleys.  Enjoy the calcada covered streets, large walls of murals, Art Nouveu style architecture, and Azulejo covered buildings.  Stop at Nossa Senhora da Gloria cathedral, stroll through the park and lunch at the Manuel Fermino local market.  End our stop on a wooden boat ride on a Moliceiro down the beautiful Aveiro canals.  Head to Porto.

July 15:  Wake up in Porto for an authentic Portuguese experience

Wander through the Ribeira District, with its colorful houses and the Duoro River.  BUY A TICKET FIRST TO SEE THE BOOKSTORE!   YOU CAN TAKE THE COST OFF THE COST OF A BOOK.  Liveiria Lelo, a gorgeous bookstore and see the wooden staircase and stained glass ceiling.

Climb 240 steps of Clerigos Tower for panoramic vistas that will take your breath away.  

Sao Bento Train stations to see the beautiful Azulejo walls of the grand hall.   

Dinner at Hard Rock cafe (10 minute walk)

July 16:  

The perfect first stop for day 2 is Porto Cathedral with amazing views of the city.  Wander through the cloisters and marvel at the azulejo walls.  

Head to Palacio da Bolsa.  Join a guided tour of its 19th century neoclassic architecture, lavish decor, and grandeur office a glimpse into when Portugal was prosperous.

Praca da Libertad - look at the most beautiful McDonalds in the world.  Mullets and Carhart jackets.

Walk to the Dom Louis I bridge.  Walk along the upper deck for panoramic views and a picture perfect moments on the side of the river.

Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, at sunset to see Ponte da Arrábida.

Cervezería Brazao to split a Francesinha, sandwich made with ham, cheese steak, egg, tomato and beer sauce.

Walk to Avenida dos Aliados (near Sao Bento Train Station)

July 17:  Villa Nova da Galla  

Port wine comes from here.  Tour Taylor's Port House, and enjoy a tasting.  continue to the World of Wine, an amazing exhibition about wines from around the word.  Another tasting.  Go into the Pink experience for photos.  Grab a to go sandwich and drink and head to Jardim do Morro, and hill garden in one of the most romantic places on earth.
